Connect Appointments are recruiting a reliable and motivated individual to join and help lead our client’s Musselburgh recycling facility as a Recycling Yard Supervisor.
Our client is a leading waste management business, focused on providing collection, treatment and recycling services to businesses across the country.
What’s on offer? This is a full-time temporary to permanent opportunity; working Monday to Friday, 06:30 to 16:30 – overtime may be required; therefore, flexibility is desired. Paid at £14 to £17 per hour.
Working as Recycling Yard Supervisor, your duties will include, but not limited to:
- Following Health & Safety and other company policy guidelines
- Monitoring PPE compliance
- Ensure day-to-day running of the site
- Ensure full communication of any tool box talks or team briefs
- Induct and train new and existing staff members – ensure understanding of expectations
- Ensure input and output material is to expected and agreed quality levels
- Ensure that all areas are kept as clean and tidy as possible and that during plant downtime general operatives are cleaning/working in their designated areas
- Ensure that all bins/skips are emptied when full
- Ensure lock off procedure are followed correctly during daily maintenance/cleaning of plant
- Ensure all near misses and accidents are reported correctly
- Mobile plant operations – safe operation of loading shovel, excavator or FLTs
- Ensure that appropriate traffic management is in place
- Deputise for Site Manager and Site Managers Assistant when not on-site
- Organise the removal of waste in accordance with management instructions and compliance
To be successful within this Site Management role you will have previous experience in a similar operational role/environment. With a proven track record of employee management and production management of an industrial/factory.
Other key skills, traits and experience that will prove beneficial include:
- Good knowledge of H&S regulation and safe systems of work
- Good knowledge of plant and machinery relevant to the site
- Be able to work with low levels of supervision in a high-pressure production environment
- Have a clear understanding and experience of using KPIs and reports
- Previous experience of training new, temporary and existing employees
- Proven ability to work within timescales and meeting deadlines
Desirable but not essential include:
- Qualifications in Waste Management Operations
- Good knowledge of plant and machinery relevant to the site
- Mobile plant operator tickets
- Due to the facilities location access to you own transport
