Connect Appointments are hiring a Park Ranger to join our Watford client.
What’s on offer?
- Full-time ongoing opportunity
- Working Monday to Sunday – 2 weeks on and 1 week off
- Working hours of 11:30am to 8pm
- Paid weekly at £14 per hour
Working as a Park Ranger, your duties will include but not limited to:
- Conduct regular patrols of parks, play areas, open spaces, playing fields, cemeteries, and allotments to ensure safety and security.
- Respond to incidents and call-outs from Police, Customer Services, Facilities, and emergency services, addressing anti-social behaviour and other issues.
- Lock and unlock facilities, provide event stewarding and site cover, and support community and special events.
- Carry out site inspections and safety checks, including play areas and basic tree inspections, and report vandalism, fly-tipping, homeless encampments, and dead animals.
- Perform minor maintenance and cleansing tasks such as small repairs, graffiti removal, waste clearance, and updating noticeboards.
- Contribute to park management and quality standards, including Green Flag support, community engagement, and working with Friends groups.
To be successful within this role, you will have the following skills, traits and experiences:
- of green space maintenance, basic tree and play area safety inspections, conservation principles, and site management standards (e.g. Green Flag criteria)
- The ability to engage positively with the public, work with community groups, handle complaints, and liaise with police and council services
- Confident in dealing with challenging situations calmly, assertively, and professionally
- Competence in carrying out minor repairs, graffiti removal, basic cleansing tasks, and identifying maintenance issues
- Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of lone working as well as supporting colleagues and events
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, patrol large areas on foot, and work evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required
