More employers looking to recruit agency staff

Almost half of employers are looking to take on more agency workers in the next three months, according to new research.

The JobsOutlook survey, carried out by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), found that 46% of employers have plans to take on more agency staff in the new year. On top of this, 39% say that they are keen to increase their use of temporary agency workers in the medium-term.

Employers are increasingly recognising the advantages of tapping into the broad network of jobseekers that agencies can offer. The main reason the employers surveyed gave for using agencies is to gain short-term access to key strategic skills – 68% saw this as important.

Recruitment generally is looking promising for the months and years ahead. It was found that 90% of employers have plans to create more permanent roles in the next three months, while 16% of companies have plans for expansion within Europe, meaning big opportunities for overseas adventures.

If you’re keen to jump on the new opportunities arising within the job market, Connect Appointments can help you make the move. With a proven track record of finding the best people for the right jobs, our expert recruitment consultants can get you into a fantastic new role that matches your skills, experience and career plans, whether it’s on a temporary or permanent basis. Here at Connect Appointments we specialise in selecting ideal candidates to fill roles in a variety of sectors. Finding work can be a challenge – and as a result, some job seekers are favouring temporary work positions. There are a number of reasons why people seek this type of role; if you have recently left a job and need a stop gap, our specialists will help to find you a role which suits your qualifications and availability so that you are back earning as quickly as possible. Significant gaps in your CV can make future employers question your work ethic, so taking on temporary work shows you are willing to be proactive and keep working in between jobs. Temporary contracts can range anywhere from days to months and sectors that we hire for include admin, contact centres, domestic and catering, customer service, engineering, management, manufacturing, food and drink and more. Our recruitment consultants will analyse your CV and identify the most suitable roles to match your experience, basing their judgement on years of experience. Our clients want hard workers who can turn up and do the job. If you’re looking for a change or to experience another branch of your profession, we will talk you through the options available across each sector. Some candidates have taken on temporary work and found that they are naturally apt in the role so stayed on and developed with the company, proving you don’t know until you try! If you’re at a stage in your career where you want to progress up the ladder but lack certain skills, taking on a temporary role in a relevant sector could add to your skillset and boost your CV so that you can push for your ideal job. Or maybe you’re a student taking time out from studying but looking for extra cash? We can fast track you to a paid role where you can make use of your existing skills and learn new ones. Taking on work during a study break shows initiative and commitment to being a reliable employee, whatever the company. If you would like to know more, feel free to phone and chat to one of our consultants now, who will be happy to talk you through your options – you can get the Glasgow team on 0141 404 1325, Livingston 01506 449944, Hamilton 01698 535870, Dundee 01382 797579, Edinburgh 0131 248 2456 or the North East office on 0191 731 4800.
