WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH CONNECT APPOINTMENT

So, you've made the initial phone call and secured a time to come into your nearest branch. But, how can you prepare for the interview and what can be expected?

PREPARE
Though the meeting isn't directly with a potential employer, your consultant is still assessing your suitability for a wide range of roles with businesses that Connect has strong ties with – therefore you should treat this appointment just like any other interview.

Dressing smartly will show your consultant that you're serious about finding a job through Connect.

The night before, ensure to pack a pen and notepad, and try to take down any important information during your interview. Your consultant may give you information regarding a role they think you'd be suitable for, so it's a good idea to take some notes. This means you can read over the information meaning you're well prepared for any inductions or follow up meetings.

If you're driving or walking to your appointment with Connect, make sure to look up the route beforehand. For public transport, check timetables and always leave earlier than you have to, this will make time for any delays or any walking you have to do at the other end.

Showing up late not only reflects badly on you, but it might lower your chances of securing a role through Connect, as your consultant may be reluctant to put you forward. Of course, sometimes you'll be running late through no fault of your own: in this instance, make sure to phone ahead and let your consultant know.

APPOINTMENT

When you arrive, you'll be asked to fill in the Connect Appointments application form. This will include some personal details, your employment history, an HM Revenue & Customs questionnaire to ensure you're not overpaying tax and a short competency test. If you have any questions throughout the application form, you can ask your consultant, who will be happy to clarify.

Once the application is filled in, it's time for the meeting. Connect Appointments has a wide range of roles across exciting sectors, so we're certain we can find the next role for you. Your consultant will go through your employment history, to learn more about your experience and skills so you can be matched with the right position.

A consultant will also clarify your address, to ensure you don't have to travel too far for your new job; any pre-booked holidays you might have; and any preferences of shift patterns you might have.

Once this has all been established, your consultant will go through some of the available roles that you'd be suitable for. This will include a bit of background on the company and the work they do, some information about the role and the pay. If you're interested in any of the roles they tell you about, they will be able to put you forward for an induction with the company, or a further interview.

Your consultant will be happy to answer any questions you have and will give you all the details of the next steps of the process.

So, it's as simple as that. Your relationship with Connect is lasting: regardless if we placed you in a role yesterday, or a year ago, we'll be here to answer any of your questions and support you along the way.
